Dressmaking Services

Alter to Fit provides the unique service the old-world dressmakers used to cater, seeing your garment from inception to finish, all in-house.

Now a days, most dressmaking houses claim to have dressmaking services in their premises however , the true is they send the measurements of the clients by e-mail overseas , and the garments are manufactured there, resulting in poor fitting , using cheap materials, also risking to deliver your garment on time. That doesn’t happen at Alter to Fit, and you are going to see physically the production process of your garment, not just the final product. Alter to Fit has a permanent pull of dressmakers working in house all the time.

Kelly's dress Whether the garment you would like produced is from a magazine, a picture, drawing, a sketch or you would like to reproduce a garment you already have, bring in your inspiration and we will re-sketch the garment recommending design details which will suit and flatter your figure, as well as recommending fabrics.

The production starts with the creation of the pattern according to the design discussed and agreed upon. There is no need to bring patterns, as making patterns especially for your body is part of the service. The pattern is then produced in calico which is called a Toile and then tested by fitting you to readapt the pattern to your proportions and figure to make it perfection. Once the pattern and toile are right, the garment is produced using the real fabric with one to two fittings max.
There is no garment that we cannot reproduce. Given an appropriate time limit, all fittings and alterations within the design and fitting process can be calculated to have your garment delivered on time, taking out the stress of your attire for your special occasion.

BRIDAL.-

Take-in or let out on the bust area, sides, with boning/beading
Take- in on Princess Line with boning/beading
Lengthen Shorten your wedding dress inclusive with lace at the bottom.
Add a French Bustle to the train on a wedding dress
Change the back of a dress from Zipper to lace (or vice versa), adding a panel.
Re-style your wedding dress

DRESSES.-
Shorten hems, Lengthen according with the style, Roll hems, Coverstitch, Take in, let out on sides or centre back, re-shape necklines and armholes. Reduce length of straps, reduce shoulders width, lift sleeves, shorten sleeves, add bust cups, add modesty piece. Re-designing. Change zippers.

SKIRTS.-
As of Hearts dress Shorten with without splits. False hem. Take in, let out, reduce waist, change zipper.

TROUSERS AND SHORTS.-
Shorten lengths, Hem lengthening, false hems, hems with cuffs, take in on legs, take in or let out on centre back waist. Re- shape crotch for baggy pants. Change zipper.

JEANS.-
Shorten lengths, transplant hems (reattached frayed hem). Machine darning, Take in on centre back . Take in on one side of the legs. Change zipper, add patches. Factory finishing.

SHIRTS.-
Shorten length , add buttons/button hole. Reduce width shirt body and sleeve, Shorten length of sleeves with cuff. Add darts, reduce the shoulder width and re-attach the sleeve. Turnover collar and stand. Re-make placket.

JACKETS.-
Shorten sleeve length , shape centre back or panels, shorten length, change lapel, add buttons/buttonholes, change zipper.>

EMBRODERY.-Just bring your needs and we quote for you.

MENDINGS.- any kind of mending, darning and repairs.
